To: New North Carolina Home Inspector Licensee
Congratulations on passing your
North Carolina licensing exam! You are
embarking on a professional journey that can be both challenging ,
enjoyable, and lucrative. We wish you success in your new endeavor.
Now that you have successfully achieved licensure in the
state we would like you to consider your professional affiliation. We would
like you to consider joining ASHI® (The
American Society of Home Inspectors) and the local state chapter of NC-ASHI.
Included in this packet is information regarding national membership which
is a prerequisite to local membership. (click
here for more information on national ASHI)
The benefits of belonging to a local state chapter of
ASHI® are:
 |
Belonging to a community of professional, experienced
home inspectors that can provide education and resources for you, the new
home inspector. |
 |
Membership to ASHI®
and NC-ASHI would enable you to belong to the largest, oldest and most
respected professional home inspection organization in the nation.
|
 |
ASHI has a direct representation at the federal level
and can influence rules and laws that pertain to the home inspection
profession. As a member you would have a voice to help shape and direct
the profession at the federal and state
levels. |
 |
State - only home inspector organizations can never influence changes that
can happen with HUD, NAR, mortgage brokers, and other lenders at the
national level. ASHI® is not only in
discussions with these professionals, but has actually been sought out by
these organizations as a knowledgeable and credible resource. In fact,
when changes are considered at the federal level we have a place at the
table. Your membership with ASHI®
helps to determine the focus and direction these other organizations take
in regard to home inspections in real estate transactions. |
 |
Belonging to ASHI®
and NC-ASHI assists in influencing the rules for performing home
inspections in the state of
North Carolina. Three of the four home
inspectors that have been appointed to the state licensing board (NCHILB)
are ASHI® and NC-ASHI members. This
has much to do with the fact that state NC-ASHI chapter members have had a
great influence in
guiding the licensing laws for the profession in the state. |
 |
Educational conferences offered by NC-ASHI historically
have had a wider range of accredited experts as instructors instead of
using the member structure only. There are many talented and highly
educated members of NC-ASHI that can teach accredited programs but NC-ASHI
also has relationships with instructors and researchers in diverse fields
that can bring fresh new research to NC-ASHI members and keep the
profession moving forward and current. |
 |
ASHI® recognizes
the NC Home Inspectors Exam as a substitute for the technical portion of
it’s certification requirements. No other state in the nation has earned
that privilege for it’s licensees. The reason… ASHI®
aided and influenced the writing of the original examination when NC home
inspection licensing began. |
 |
Belonging to NC-ASHI enables the home inspector to step
forward into leadership roles at the state and national levels. NC-ASHI
is proud to have had an ASHI® national
president come from its ranks. |
 |
ASHI’s 25 year history of certification has been a
recognized accomplishment in the area of home inspections for many
professionals and consumers. |
 | Last, but not least, you will have a listing on the
local NC-ASHI website with all your business contact information to assist
in getting business referrals! |
We sincerely hope that you will consider becoming a
member of both organizations. We invite you to visit the ASHI®
website at: www.ashi.org and our
local chapter website at: www.ncashi.com.
We also would like to extend an invitation to our education and business
meetings which are held quarterly. . Meetings
and maps are posted on this local website and are updated frequently.
If you have questions please don’t hesitate to call!
