16 Hours of great Home Inspection education

Come join us for our Winter Conference to fulfill all 12 hours of NCHILB continuing education, and 16 hours of ASHI education requirements.  The bonus 4 hour session, Pre-drywall Inspections, can be used for newly Licensed Home Inspectors for additional CE credits.  All licensed inspectors who did not attend a pre-licensing program must take an extra 4 hour elective during the first 3 years after receiving their license.

Pre-drywall Inspections – 4 Hours

Pre-drywall inspections are not home inspections without drywall.  This is a different inspection during which you inspect different components using different criteria. Much of what we will cover may apply to home inspections too.

Pre-drywall inspections can be a great source of income, or a great source of liability.  The difference lies in knowing what to inspect and what to look for.  This course gives you the tools you need to better serve your client and to avoid liability.

This course shows you: (1) What components you should inspect, (2) How to identify deficiencies, (3) How to report your findings, (4) How to manage client expectations.

ASHI Standard Deck Inspections – 8 Hours

Think you know how to inspect a deck?  Think again!  After taking this class, you will know why inspecting decks is more complicated than most inspectors realize. You will never look at a deck in the same way again.

This class gives you the knowledge you need to inspect decks and identify defects based on objective standards, not just on your opinion. You will learn how to prioritize defects, and how to report defects to your clients so that they can understand and use the valuable information that you provide.

All course materials will be provided in an electronic format (on a flash drive), or be made available for download prior to the conference, to reduce the consumption of paper as well as the cost of printing.

Our Instructor will be:

Mr. Bruce Barker

Bruce Barker is the author or editor of books including: Everybody’s Building Code, Avoiding Deck Disasters, The NHIE Home Inspection Manual, Black & Decker Codes for Homeowners, The Complete Guide to Wiring, and The Complete Guide to Plumbing. He authors The Word column in The ASHI Reporter and is an instructor at conferences. Bruce is an ASHI Certified Inspector who currently serves on the ASHI Board of Directors after serving for six years as the ASHI Standards Committee Chairman.  Bruce has been building and inspecting homes for over 29 years.  He is an ICC certified Residential Combination Inspector, a licensed General Contractor, and a licensed Home Inspector in multiple states.
