It's time to renew - Dues Invoices will not be mailed The due date for renewing ASHI membership is September 30, 2006, and invoices were e-mailed to the entire membership to eliminate the high cost of using the US Postal Service. Please encourage everyone to pay online (completely secure) using a credit card or an automatic deduction from a checking account, in one lump sum or spread out over 12 months with automatic deduction. If you haven't paid your dues, please click here. The renewal button is in the upper right hand corner. Once dues are paid, members may also enter their MRCs. Those who joined ASHI prior to October 1, 2005, owe 20 MRCs. For a current list of MRC-approved seminars, click here. Questions? Please contact Anthony Snyder, ASHI director of membership and marketing, anthonys@ashi.org. Current Membership Numbers
There are approximately 100 individuals who have not submitted their original MRCs due on 9/30/05. If you know of any members in your chapter who have paid dues but not yet submitted last year's MRC Claim Form, please contact them immediately. They are in danger of losing their membership in ASHI. Chapter presidents: If you want a list of those in your Chapter currently on Administrative Suspension, please contact Kate Zarko at katez@ashi.org. Officer Nomination Committee announces slate
To read the committee’s memorandum, click here. In accordance with ASHI Bylaws, the Nominating Committee prepared this slate based on nomination matrices received for each position. ASHI Members may also petition to appear on the ballot. To review officer nomination and election policy, including petitioning and campaigning, click here. The above slate, along with any petition candidates, will be presented to Voting Members by October 31. For general information, contact Angie, angies@ashi.org. Director Elections The Director Nominating Committee is reviewing nomination matrices and will present a slate to those serving on the Council of Representatives by October 31. To review election, petition and campaigning policies, download the COR Policy and Procedures manual from the ASHI Web site. Voting Members get ready for series of ballots Even before the Officers' election, voting Members will receive a series of ballots. In response to several motions passed by the Board of Directors, the ASHI Bylaws Committee has prepared ballots asking voting Members to approve changes to the bylaws. To be valid, 30 percent of eligible Members must participate in any revision to the bylaws. Voting will be electronic, with paper ballots sent only to those who do not have valid e-mail addresses on fi le with ASHI or who request one be sent to them. Electronic voting saves money and time, and everyone is encouraged to assist in making the voting process more efficient by keeping contact information up-to-date. To update yours, click here. Call for Volunteers The Society depends on its members to participate in leadership at the national level. Each year the call goes out for volunteers. This year, the form includes frequently asked questions and answers about volunteering. If you are ready to take a role in leadership at the national level, download a copy of the form in PDF by clicking here. Represent ASHI at NAR® conference in New Orleans We are currently seeking volunteers to work in the ASHI booth during the National Association of Realtors Conference, November 10-13, 2006, in New Orleans, Louisiana. A variety of shifts are available. If you're willing to help ASHI deliver the message that professionalism is important, contact Angela Orlando, angelao@ashi.org, 847-954-3187. PR Committee needs you The Public Relations Committee is looking for one additional member to help create a contact list for its REALTOR® outreach project. Monahon Award goes to a Member who has made outstanding contributions to the Society and the profession over a long period of time. The John E. ASHI at ITA Expo If you attend the ITA Inspection Expo, September 25-27 in Las Vegas, stop by the ASHI booth to say "Hello." Promote the ASHI Chapter Enterprise Award This award is designed to encourage chapter members to attend InspectionWorld together. Promote the challenge to your chapter at your next meeting or in your newsletter. Click here to download the guidelines. Questions? Contact Bob Kociolek at HQ, bobk@ashi.org. Parallel Inspections Currently, 69 Members have signed up as Parallel Inspection Guides. Many states and areas are unrepresented, and we are disappointed that not every Chapter leader or ASHI Committee member has signed up to be a Guide. It's easy to sign up. Simply click here. Then click the radial button for "YES" under "Parallel Inspection Settings." Be sure to hit the "Submit Changes" button. As a Guide, you agree to take ASHI Candidates on an actual inspection, providing them with feedback, via a checklist system, on the status of their reports. See the September ASHI Reporter for details. Help find lost Members Right now, ASHI is giving any Inactive Member who left ASHI from Jan. 1, 2000 and beyond, the opportunity to return to ASHI for only $395. This program impacts nearly 1,000 people and, as of August 21, 62 ASHI Inspectors had chosen to return. We welcome these inspectors back with open arms. We have been unable to reach more than 140 of the 1,000 Members eligible for the Welcome Back program. Click here to see the list. If you know the whereabouts of these people, please contact Anthony Snyder at anthonys@ashi.org. ASHI membership is required before chapter membership We've received reports that some chapters are allowing non-members to join the chapter while bypassing national membership. Please be aware that membership in ASHI is required before someone can join a chapter. If you'd like to sign up new Candidates at your chapter meetings, please download an updated application from the ASHI Web site and ask the new Candidate to complete both documents at the same time. You keep the Chapter application and forward the national application to ASHI HQ with payment and copy of photo ID. Find an application here.
