• 2007 Director ballots mailed

Paper ballots for the 2007 Directors' election were mailed October 31 to the Council of Representatives. The deadline for submitting ballots is December 5. Due to staff and budget limitations, there is no electronic voting for directors this year.

The slate is as follows:

Marvin Goldstein

Robert Pyne
Michael Stephens
Ronald Rusch

Pick up the phone and call those who haven't renewed

There are still a few Members and Candidates out there who haven't renewed their membership. All chapters are asked to call those who haven't paid their dues to remind them they will become inactive on November 29, 2006. The Membership Department will be in touch with chapter presidents to provide talking points and a list of chapter members who haven't paid their dues.

Chapter Leadership event sets attendance records

With more 190 ASHI leaders attending from a record-setting 67 chapters, 41 states, a Canadian Providence and Puerto Rico, this year's leadership training event was a success. Attendees heard presentations on finding new leaders, ethics and regulation myths, and got a look at a Smart Track module.

For the first time, the Chapter Relations Committee held a four-hour "boot camp" training session for new and struggling chapters. The workshop was geared to help those chapters get up and running quickly. Five leaders from four chapters and the new Puerto Rico SIG were the guests of the CRC - all expenses paid. Budget permitting, the CRC will repeat the boot camp for other chapters in 2007.

Watch for highlights in the December Reporter.

Cost of NHIE going up

Alert all ASHI Candidates. The National Home Inspectors Examination will increase in price from $195 to $225 beginning on January 2, 2007. The cost increase - the first since 1999 - was announced in late October by the Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors. All ASHI Candidates must pass this exam to move up in membership. New badges on the way
