NC-ASHI Business Meeting
Meeting Minutes
February 23, 2006
Opening:
The regular meeting of the NC-ASHI was called to order at 3:00pm on February 23, 2006 in Burlington by Tom Edwards chapter president.
Present:
The agenda was unanimously approved as distributed.

Treasurers Report: Larry Conway reported the NC-ASHI treasury balance was currently $22,600.00. There was a profit of $11,006.00 from the 2005 fall educational conference.
Education Committee: Steve Elder reported that the 2006 fall conference will be held at the beach this year. NC-ASHI will provide 16 hours of education over a period of 3 days. It will run from Friday through Sunday am. Date and location to be announced on the website within the next month. Steve has been in discussion with Tom and Bonnie Gregory and Advanced Energy for courses to be offered at the conference.
Report Action Committee: Steve Smallman was not at this meeting so Chris Hilton and Tom Edwards provided the update from the NCHILB Standard Report Form Committee. The NCHILB is looking at changing the term standard report form to standard report format. The summary would be at the front of the report. They are also looking at tightening up the initial home inspector training requirements to apply to take the licensing exam as well as possible random report auditing. The next standard report form committee meeting is scheduled for March 16, 2006. Both Chris Hilton and Tom Edwards plan to attend.
President Report: Tom Edwards reports that 18 states are now using the EBPHI examination for licensing. He also reports that the Round Table Practicum that John Woodmansee is developing was on track for it’s inaugural
date in March or April. The practicum will be held in the Jamestown area utilizing a rental property for the inspection. The ASHI Reporter can now be accessed online. Tom suggested the possibility of emailing articles from the
Reporter to other licensed home inspectors in the state. He will check on this.
Nicole will write Sandy B at national to get the link to the Reporter online if possible.
COR Report: Chris Hilton reported that NC-ASHI is a part of the Mid-Atlantic COR group. The mid-atlantic group stressed the importance of our chapter having all the COR reps that national allowed (2). Tom and the board will take this under advisement. Chris also reported that ASHI is known as the “elite” home inspector organization and discussions were being pursued as to how to reach new members on different levels. Chris will keep the chapter updated.
NCHILB Report: David Jones reported that the NCHILB is doing a top to bottom review of the SOP’s. He also reminded the chapter that whenever a claim was placed against an inspector that a report review was automatic. He stated that the NCHILB wants to become more pro-active about report reviewing.
David also will email the report review form that has been utilized by ASHI, to the executive director to post on the NC-ASHI website for member use.
