The purpose of First Thing is to help ASHI's leaders fulfill their responsibility to bring information, programs and benefits to the membership. The membership expects its leaders to know what's happening, so please read this newsletter and share the information with your colleagues.

Members approve new membership category names

While the qualifications for each category of membership remain the same, everyone now has a new name, except for Retired Members and Affiliates. Three other bylaw changes were approved as well. Click here to see the details.

February 20 deadline for submitting Nomination
Committee matrices

Council Representatives who volunteered at the January COR meeting to serve on either the Officers Nomination Committee or the Directors Nomination Committee will receive a matrix by e-mail from Bob Kociolek. The deadline for returning the matrix is end of business day, February 20, 2007.

Council Representatives will receive ballots and have from February 28 to March 31 to elect the members of the two committees. The Officers Nomination Committee presents a slate to Certified Members, and the Director Nomination Committee presents a slate to Council Representatives.

EBPHI invites you to help define your profession

As an active home inspector, your opinion is valuable to the Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors. EBPHI develops, maintains and administers the National Home Inspector Examination for 19 states that regulate home inspectors. In spring of 2007, EBPHI will conduct an electronic survey to ask home inspectors their opinions about the day-to-day practice of home inspection. The results of that survey will help shape the content of the exam in future years.

To register to participate, log onto our Web site at www.homeinspectionexam.org. The survey will be sent to you electronically in the spring.
